Theater in public building – Ermoupolis (Island of Syros)

It is a research study of restoration, highlight and development of one of special aesthetics listed building in Ermoupolis. It has been proposed the building to function as one of multiple uses, for recreation and civilization, both in the interior as well in the external parts in the backyard. It has theater rooms, meeting and conference halls, sitting room and a small theatre scene. Its structure has very few modern metallic or wooden constructions. It is located in a dense traditional housing complex and after the new changes and extensions it will gently assimilate the style of the surrounding buildings. Proposed materials are the exposed concrete, stone, wood, metal and glass. Its colored parts keep in line with stone color shades. It was the bachelor’s thesis of Elena Bairaktari and Nikoleta Pappa, under the Professors Spyros Raftopoulos and Maria Kafritsa in 1997 and was evaluated with Very Good, 8,80/10.
